Extended Warranty ScamThe Missouri Attorney General's office is warning you of a car warranty scam tonight.Posted on Thu Mar 6, 2008Attorney General Jay Nixon filed lawsuits today against several companies pitching extended warranty plans on cars that are still covered by the original factory plan. Jay Nixon claims the companies are frightening customers by sending them letters that claim their warranties are about to expire even though it may be several months before that happens. A Nixon spokesman told ABC 17 Thursday the practice has led to Missourians unnecessarily spending thousands of dollars. Below is the list of the companies the Attorney General plans to take legal action with: · TXEN Partners; Which does business as Service Protection Direct of Saint Louis. · Dealer Warranty Services of St. Charles · Certified Auto Warranty Service Inc. · National Dealers Warranty Inc. · National Auto Warranty Services Inc. The A-G also recommends calling the Missouri Department of Insurance at 800-726-7390.
